Statement of Faith
I Believe ….
I believe in God, Creator of all that is,
Generous Giver of life and love
Who loves unconditionally and delights in all of Creation.
I believe in the Mystery of Incarnation –
That in Immense and Extraordinary Love,
The Creator came to dwell among us in human form
To experience all that humanity experiences –
Including suffering, ridicule, betrayal, and persecution –
So that we could know that in good and bad, life and death,
We are not alone because
The Incredible Love that is God is always with us
And knows intimately what we are experiencing.
I believe Creator Love is eternally with us,
Saturating all of Creation with beauty
Inviting all living souls to abide
in that Immense and Incredible Love
and in loving community with one another.
I believe that nothing can separate us from the power of Creator’s Love even when we choose to ignore and reject all that Creator Love is and freely offers.
I believe in the Holy Mystery of eternity; Creator Love; and Life everlasting.
The Blog
Thoughts, musings, and ruminations.
As an Ordained United Methodist Minister in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of The United Methodist Church, I have served under appointment since 1985 as a pastor, chaplain and now founder and spiritual director of Chabereth Ministries. I am particularly interested in spiritual formation and direction ministries. As a spiritual director, I meet with individuals about once a month and listen with the Holy One as they explore their relationship to God. And I enjoy leading retreats - especially at the Riverside Retreat Center at Pecometh. I have also developed a secondary ministry as a bereavement specialist. I also founded and facilitate Whispering Woods Native American Flute Ministry and Circle
Organizations, and Interests
I am the co-founder and former chair of the Board of Directors of Hearts On Fire: Fellowship of United Methodist Spiritual Directors and Retreat Leaders. Hearts on Fire has a deep desire to advance the goals of spiritual formation: the transformation of lives and the deepening of discipleship. Our goal is to provide formational leaders with opportunities for connection, networking, resourcing and support. We work to advocate for and educate about the ministries of spiritual direction and retreat leadership at every level of the United Methodist Church. Every year Hearts On Fire gathers for lunch at Spiritual Directors International and we have a national retreat every other year at different locations across the country.
Photography is a contemplative practice for me as it helps me to notice the beauty of my environment and draws me into the Presence of the Holy. You can see some of my pictures at ViewBug.org.
I enjoy volunteering as a crew member on the Kalmar Nyckel, Delaware's tall ship. There is something magical and spiritual about sailing on this beautiful ship!
Playing my Native American Flutes is a prayer practice for me. It connects me to the Creator and creation. I particularly enjoy playing my flutes for patients of Delaware Hospice, Inc. as a volunteer.
I truly enjoy delivering Meals On Wheels to senior citizens in our area.
